More Grant Funding Success!

Cornwall Councillors’ Community Chest Grant

Kernow Men’s Society are delighted to announce that we have been successful with our application to our local Cornwall Councillors for a share of their Community Chest pots.

Several months ago, KMS made an application via Cornwall Community Foundation to Great Western Railway for a grant in order to start an informal, basic I.T. project so that our members could get to grips with various aspects of getting online.

Although the grant application wasn’t successful at that time, GWR were so impressed by what we do that they decided to donate 4 laptops to us as a starting point for our project.

Following a suggestion by our local town and county councillor Sandra Heyward, we made an application to various other councillors in the St Austell area and several of them decided to support our efforts with donations from their own Community Chest pots in order for us to be able to purchase the other items required to get our project up and running.

As such, KMS would like to acknowledge and thank Councillors Sandra Heyward, Malcolm Brown, Tom French, Richard Pears and Cherilyn Mackrory for their very kind and generous donations, without which we would not have been able to commence our project.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank both Helen Nicholson and Lisa Grigg at the Localism Team at the St Austell offices of Cornwall Council for their assistance in pulling the grant application all together, it’s very much appreciated.

    • Hey Sandra, many thanks for your great help these last few months.
The grant money you’ve helped us obtain this year from both St Austell Town Council and Cornwall County Council has helped us tremendously with various ongoing group costs without which we would have faced great difficulties.
We look forward to seeing you again soon!
      KMS
